A tall sculpture brings a migrant’s presence into view.

SCOPE Miami
29 November–4 December 2022
The Migrant is a sculpture made from aluminium and steel for SCOPE Miami Beach in 2022. Its long legs carry a large, box-shaped head, drawing on the painted boxes of Journey Mercies. At more than four metres tall, the figure changes the scale at which a migrant is seen.
Ken placed his own image on the head. The sculpture is personal, but it also speaks to people whose movement across borders is scrutinised or restricted. Its upright stance gives the figure a presence that cannot easily be ignored.
Presented with SCOPE Miami Beach and 193 Gallery. Curated by Roger Karera; digital design by Koroye Studio; fabrication by Art Force Studio; photography by Mike Kure.
